I am writing as a concerned and engaged constituent to urge you to do everything in your power to reject the so-called “Big Ugly” bill and to stand firmly for the rule of law by holding the Trump administration accountable for following the laws, norms, and constitutional principles that safeguard our democracy. The “Big Ugly” is more than just a troubling piece of legislation—it is a symptom of a broader pattern of political maneuvering that threatens transparency, accountability, and the checks and balances that define our system of government. Any attempt to rush through sweeping changes—whether to the budget, the judiciary, or regulatory oversight—without thorough debate and scrutiny, should be soundly opposed. At the same time, I am deeply troubled by ongoing revelations of abuses of power and disregard for legal norms by former President Trump and his administration. No one is above the law. It is imperative that you support efforts to investigate and, where appropriate, pursue accountability for actions that may have violated federal law, undermined democratic institutions, or placed personal power above the public interest. In this moment, your leadership matters. I urge you to: • Publicly oppose the Big Ugly bill and its underlying threats to fair governance; • Support full and fair investigations into the actions of the former administration; • Reaffirm your commitment to the rule of law, the integrity of our institutions, and the protection of democratic values for all Americans. Please know that I, along with many others in our community, am watching closely and counting on you to put country over party and principle over politics.
