Vote No On the Save America Act!

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Graham Nordone, Rep. Wilson

From: A verified voter in North Augusta, SC

July 19

Vote NO on the SAVE America Act or any variation of this bill. This legislation would cause an undo burden on many people, creating a barrier between them and their ability to vote. State already require people to show specific types of ID in order to vote, so requiring a passport to register to vote is unnecessary. Many people do not have a passport, and obtaining one is expensive. This requirment just to register to vote could be considered a poll tax. This bill would negatively impact women and trans Americans. Because this bill requires your current ID to match your birth certificate married women who have chosen to take their husbands last name, divorced women who have not changed their name back to their maiden name, and trans people who have changed their ID to match their identity, would all be ineligible to enroll as a voter. This is a concerted effort to keep specific groups of people from voting. It is not surprise that the targeted groups are more likely to vote for the Democratic party. This SAVE America Act is just another way Trump is trying to cheat to win. This is a deliberate attempt by Trump and Republicans to meddle with the upcoming mid-terms. Instead of illegal interfering with elections, how about running on a platform that is popular enough to win your party the majority vote.
