Investigate Attorney General Blanche for Hatch Act Violations
To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Bean, Sen. Scott

August 16
Demand an investigation into Attorney General Todd Blanche for violating the Hatch Act. He appeared at a Trump campaign rally in New York, endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman, and spoke about "his" Department of Justice — all while on the clock as the nation's chief law enforcement officer. Presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed officials like Blanche are subject to the Hatch Act around the clock and may only engage in partisan political activity in a purely personal capacity. Standing at a campaign rally next to the President, in front of law enforcement officers, talking about your official duties is not personal capacity. It's a textbook violation.
The Attorney General enforcing the law selectively — for everyone except himself — is not a minor procedural concern. FBI Director Kash Patel was at the same rally, also campaigning. When the top two law enforcement officials in the country are on the stump for the president's preferred candidates, the Justice Department stops being a department of justice. Hold Blanche accountable. Refer this to the Office of Special Counsel for investigation. The Hatch Act exists precisely to prevent this kind of abuse, and it means nothing if no one enforces it.
