Thank You for Defending our Right to State Control of Elections, Mail-In Ballots
To: Dir. Fontes
From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ
April 1
I am writing regarding the president’s recent executive order unconstitutionally asserting power over our state election processes and purporting to interfere with USPS delivery of Arizonans’ ballots.
I know that this is not the first time you have needed to push back on federal overreach at the behest of the administration, including when they demanded sensitive data in our voter registration rolls. The objective behind that scheme is much clearer in light of this executive order.
Obviously Mr. Trump has no true problem with mail-in voting, having voted by mail himself. More than 80% of Arizonans of all political stripes likewise vote securely by mail for reasons as diverse as we are.
I am writing to thank you for defending our voting system that works well, that the overwhelming majority of Arizonans use, and that we are constitutionally entitled to continue enjoying. We are lucky to have you as Secretary of State during these very strange times.
