Reject Proposed Russia-Ukraine Peace Plan That Favors Russian Interests

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

November 23

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recently proposed peace plan for the Russia-Ukraine conflict. This plan, reportedly backed by the Trump administration, appears to heavily favor Russian interests at the expense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The 28-point plan allegedly acquiesces to many Russian demands, including forcing Ukraine to cede large portions of its territory. This is not a path to peace; it is a capitulation to aggression. As Senator Mike Rounds aptly stated, this plan would effectively reward Russia for its illegal and violent actions against a sovereign nation. The timing and pressure surrounding this proposal are equally troubling. President Trump's insistence that Ukraine accept the plan by next week shows a disregard for the complexities of the situation and the need for careful, balanced negotiations. This rushed approach raises serious questions about the motivations behind the plan. Furthermore, the conflicting statements from the State Department and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about whether this plan is a "wish list" of the Russians or an actual US proposal are deeply concerning. This lack of clarity and consistency in our foreign policy undermines our credibility on the world stage. I urge you to take a strong stand against this proposed peace plan. We must not abandon our principles or our allies in pursuit of a quick resolution. Instead, I ask that you advocate for a more balanced approach that respects Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity while seeking a genuine, sustainable peace. The United States should be leading efforts to uphold international law and support democratic nations under threat, not bowing to the demands of authoritarian regimes. Our actions now will have long-lasting consequences for global security and the credibility of American leadership. I request that you publicly oppose this plan and work with your colleagues to develop a more equitable approach to resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The stakes are too high for hasty decisions or one-sided agreements. Let's ensure our foreign policy reflects our values and supports our allies in their time of need.
