Stop the Job Corps Shutdown – Protect Florida’s Future Workforce
To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody
From: A verified voter in Gulfport, FL
June 3
I am writing as a concerned Floridian to urge you to oppose the Department of Labor’s dangerous decision to suspend all operations of the Job Corps program, and to fight for the full restoration of its funding.
Job Corps is a lifeline for thousands of young people across Florida and the nation. It provides critical education, vocational training, housing, meals, and wraparound support that prepares disadvantaged youth for meaningful employment. Gutting this program now—without any plan to replace its services—would be devastating to our state’s most vulnerable young adults and detrimental to our workforce.
If Florida’s leadership wants to talk seriously about economic opportunity and public safety, then stripping support from the very programs that give people a chance is not the answer. This decision is fiscally irresponsible, morally indefensible, and must be reversed.
Please take a stand and fight to preserve and protect the Job Corps program for Florida and the country.
