Someone summed this up in a way that clicked for me: the reason someone like Mamdani is seemingly able to make so much change so quickly is because he isn’t bought and paid for. He doesn’t need to worry about how helping his people is going to affect a billion dollar corporation because he didn’t accept any money from them. He has nobody blackmailing him or holding their money over his head. More of these guys, please.
