Investigate Musk's undue influence over government agencies

To: Del. Obenshain, Sen. Hackworth, Gov. Youngkin

From: A constituent in Blacksburg, VA

February 3, 2025

The continued encroachment of Elon Musk's aides into key government agencies is deeply concerning and raises serious questions about proper oversight, cybersecurity risks, and the undue influence of a private individual over critical public systems. Reports of Musk loyalists locking career civil servants out of computer systems containing sensitive personnel data at the Office of Personnel Management are extremely alarming. This not only undermines transparency and accountability, but also jeopardizes the integrity and security of vital government databases. Such actions are a blatant power grab that sidelines experienced public servants and concentrates control in the hands of an unelected billionaire with clear conflicts of interest. This is an unacceptable state of affairs that warrants immediate congressional inquiry and intervention to protect the operational independence of federal agencies. No private entity should wield this level of unchecked authority over the core functions of the United States government. Decisive action must be taken to restore proper checks and balances, safeguard public data, and prevent further erosion of democratic norms and institutions. The public deserves full transparency regarding Musk's expanding role and any undue privileges or access he has been granted.
