Oppose Medicaid Cuts

To: Sen. Smith, Sen. Klobuchar, Rep. Craig

From: A verified voter in Lakeville, MN

February 26

I am a constituent writing to express my opposition to the proposed cuts in funding in Gov. Walz’s budget for disability waiver programs. The Governor is proposing $600 million in cuts to waiver programs over the next four years.  Rates have gone up for disability waiver programs because families and providers have not been able to hire staff. There is still a staffing crisis. This is particularly hard for people who use self-directed services like the Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS) option. Just when we were making a little progress we are being asked to lose ground again. Congress should protect disability services and not look to disability services to make up future shortfalls. It is important to protect disability funding and maintain funding for disability waivers. Please oppose this proposal and work with the Governor to find another solution to any budget issues.
