I am writing to express serious concerns about the proposed “Big Beautiful Bill.” While its name suggests progress or prosperity, the bill poses significant risks to both the American people and the stability of our government. First, the bill dramatically increases federal spending without a clear plan for sustainable funding. With the national debt already exceeding $34 trillion, adding unfunded mandates or broad tax cuts could further destabilize our economy. A short-term boost may come at the cost of long-term financial security, leaving future generations to bear the burden. Second, the bill weakens essential regulatory safeguards. By rolling back protections for labor, the environment, and consumer rights, it prioritizes corporate interests over public well-being. Deregulation without accountability increases the risk of environmental degradation, workplace exploitation, and unchecked market abuses. Third, the bill centralizes federal power in ways that could erode state and local autonomy. By preempting existing state laws and imposing top-down mandates, it limits the ability of communities to govern in ways that reflect their specific needs and values. Additionally, the bill’s vague language around national security provisions raises constitutional concerns. It expands executive authority without sufficient oversight, threatening the balance of power between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government. Lastly, the bill was drafted and rushed through the legislative process without adequate public debate or bipartisan review. Transparency and democratic input are essential in major policy changes, and bypassing them undermines public trust. In short, the “Big Beautiful Bill” risks long-term economic harm, environmental damage, weakened civil protections, and an imbalance of governmental power. I urge lawmakers to reconsider this legislation and prioritize solutions that are fiscally responsible, constitutionally sound, and reflective of the American people’s diverse needs.
