An Open Letter
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in North Beach, MD
July 26
To the Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States,
Do your job.
Defend the Constitution.
Stop this administration from using executive power to trample civil liberties, criminalize poverty, and disappear vulnerable Americans into institutions.
The July 24, 2025 Executive Order titled “Ending Crime and Disorder on America’s Streets” is not public policy—it is a blueprint for mass internment, unchecked surveillance, and forced institutionalization of unhoused people, the mentally ill, and the addicted. It is the calculated weaponization of “public safety” to dismantle civil rights, override court precedents, and reward cities that sweep their poorest residents into jails, treatment centers, or the shadows.
You have the power—and the responsibility—to stop this before it spirals further. This is not just about one policy. It is about the precedent it sets: that the Executive can ignore due process, discard medical ethics, and use poverty as justification for authoritarian control.
I urge this Court to:
• Uphold protections against involuntary commitment without due process
• Defend the right to privacy against forced data-sharing with law enforcement
• Reinforce the legal boundaries that protect us from a return to state-run internment by executive decree
This is how democracies fall—not in a single stroke, but through normalization of state violence cloaked in legality. You are the last line.
Protect the people.
Protect the Constitution.
Before it’s too late.
Respectfully,
An Extremely Concerned Citizen
