Oppose SCR 3 – Defend Marriage Equality in Iow
To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst
From: A verified voter in West Des Moines, IA
May 8
I am writing as a concerned constituent in West Des Moines, Iowa to express my strong opposition to SCR 3, which was filed today by Senate Republicans and seeks to overturn same-sex marriage in Iowa.
Marriage equality is a fundamental civil right that ensures all people, regardless of sexual orientation, are treated with dignity, respect, and legal protection. Overturning same-sex marriage would not only roll back years of progress but also send a harmful message to countless Iowa families that their love is not equal under the law.
This resolution is out of step with the values of fairness and equality that our state should uphold. It would disrupt families, take away legal protections from spouses and children, and fuel division where unity is needed.
I urge you to stand firmly against SCR 3 and any attempt to undermine marriage equality in Iowa. Our state should be moving forward, not backward.
Thank you for your time and for representing the people of Iowa with compassion and integrity.
