I'm writing to request that New Jersey adopt a law similar to that of California SB 627, which makes it a crime for members of any local, state, or federal law enforcement agency to wear any mask or personal disguise while interacting with the public in the performance of their duties, excepting those officers engaged in undercover assignments. People identifying as belonging to certain factions of federal law enforcement have recently been conducting illegal seizures of innocent American residents and forcibly detaining elected government officials who dare to stand up and ask questions. The impunity of these actors is encouraged by their anonymity. If they are truly members of law enforcement, them they should be held to the same standard as the rest of us. If they are not, them they should be arrested and face justice for the crime of impersonating law enforcement. And either way they should be held accountable for inflicting terror on people who are just trying to live. Thank you for your time and consideration.
