Do not pass Senate Bill 51

To: Gov. Morrisey, Sen. Azinger, Del. Moore, Sen. Boley

From: A constituent in Elizabeth, WV

February 18

I cannot state how much I disagree with this proposed WV bill. You are daily eroding women's rights for a fetus, who never elected you or knows of a living soul. Your priorities are beyond strewn. You have no empathy, humanity, morality, or decency when it is in regards to women. The message you are sending out is that women don't matter, we are evidently considered second class citizens who are deemed to be less intelligent and property of men who can do what they wishand only a fetus matters. Our lives matter more! Shame on you all. A bill removing rape and incest as exceptions for obtaining an abortion was introduced into the West Virginia Senate last week. Senate Bill 51 would remove exceptions for rape and incest from the current abortion law in West Virginia. The bill would not prohibit all abortions in the state. The bill says the procedure would still be able to be performed under other circumstances, such as: if the embryo or fetus is nonviable the pregnancy is ectopic another medical emergency exists The bill, sponsored by Senator Taylor, was introduced on Feb. 12, and has been referred to the Committee on Health and Human Resources and the Committee on the Judiciary.
