I am appalled at the lack of humane oversight from (DHS) and (ICE) and have deep concern over the deportation of Venezuelan asylum seekers to El Salvador’s CECOT prison, where many are held without charges under abusive conditions. I urge you to call for their return and an investigation into this violation of due process. Over 75% of these men have no criminal background, neither here nor the countries they came from. This country was founded on liberty, justice, and freedom for all, and justice must be available for all and not just some. Men like Julio Zambrano from our very own Davidson, NC and Kilmar Garcia deserve the right to due process. Trump is in direct defiance of the Supreme Court ruling and regardless of what your immigration policies are, our democracy will crumble if we do not uphold the constitution and system of checks and balances. I hope you find compassion to put an end to these human rights violations. I hope you are remembered on the right side of history by speaking up for what is good and morally upright. We state ourselves to be a Christian nation and our religious beliefs are first and fore-mostly expressed by our actions and desire to make the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness an option for all.
