I am writing to express my strong opposition to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025, which recently passed the House and is now under consideration in the Senate.
While the bill is marketed as a comprehensive reform package, its provisions overwhelmingly favor the wealthiest Americans and large corporations at the expense of working families, the elderly, and the most vulnerable members of our society. I am especially concerned about the following elements:
The permanent extension of the 2017 tax cuts, which will cost trillions over the next decade and deepen income inequality by prioritizing high-income earners over middle- and low-income families.
The proposed cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, which will strip health care and food assistance from millions, disproportionately affecting children, people with disabilities, and low-income workers.
The massive increase in military and border wall spending, which comes at the cost of essential domestic programs like education, health care, and housing.
The creation of so-called "Trump Accounts", which are ideologically driven savings accounts offering minimal benefit to struggling families while serving more as a political branding tool than sound policy.
Furthermore, raising the debt ceiling to accommodate tax breaks for the wealthy while reducing safety net programs is fiscally irresponsible and morally indefensible.
I urge you to vote no on this bill and to instead support legislation that promotes equity, protects public health, strengthens our social safety net, and reflects the values of fairness and compassion that our nation aspires to uphold.
Thank you for your time and for your commitment to serving the people of Louisiana.
