It has been reported overnight that the Louisiana GOP is cancelling the May 16 elections to allow time for redistricting. The gerrymandering proposed would eliminate two largely Black districts, silencing the Black voice and strengthening the overwhelming oppressive control of the Republican Party. This is not just unconstitutional- it’s downright racist. Equity and equality cannot be expressed when minority voices are suppressed. Tell your colleagues to stop rigging the process- especially in light of the fact that many have already mailed in their ballots. We cannot dignify an attempt to control election outcomes nor an act that eliminates voter input after they’ve cast their votes. Demand Louisiana GOP stop rigging elections!
