Last year, lawmakers approved $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid, public health, and rural hospitals, delaying implementation until after the November elections. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) that became law in July 2025 includes $1.2 trillion in cuts to healthcare—the largest cut in federal health spending ever—to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and expanded immigration enforcement. What are the results of these disastrous cuts? *Nearly 450 hospitals in 44 states are at high risk of closing or cutting services. They serve six million patients, employing 300,000 care workers. *Over 15 million Americans are losing their health coverage – the largest coverage loss in U.S. history. *Researchers estimate the $1 trillion in healthcare cuts will cause over 51,000 preventable deaths every year. *Congressional District Data shows that 16 million people will lose health insurance from Medicaid, ACA Cuts. *1 in 10 Medicare Advantage enrollees face forced disenrollment in 2026. It is time for the Republican controlled Congress to reverse course! Restore these funding cuts when you finalize the budget reconciliation bill. It is shameful to give tax cuts for billionaires and massive corporations while middle class and impoverished people in our communities lack access to hospitals and heathcare coverage It is shameful that people will get sick and die as a direct result of the greed and self-dealing of the Republican Party that controls Congress. *Above statistics provided by the non profit Seven Days in June.
