I write as a concerned constituent about recent actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the current administration. I believe ICE has gone too far, and recent events have sown fear among citizens. Today’s developments make me worry that the government is moving to restrict free speech and suppress dissenting opinions.
As an American citizen with full voting rights, I ask directly: is this administration seeking to silence citizens who disagree with its policies? Where is your leadership in speaking out against actions that intimidate and chill public discourse? I urge you to use your office to:
Publicly condemn any abuses of power by ICE that target lawful speech or peaceful civic participation.
Support transparent investigations into ICE operations that may violate constitutional rights.
Sponsor or back legislation that strengthens safeguards for free speech and protects citizens from politically motivated enforcement.
Hold oversight hearings and demand accountability from officials responsible for policies that intimidate or silence constituents.
Your constituents need assurance that our civil liberties are being defended and that elected leaders will stand up when government power is used to intimidate or suppress dissent. I expect you to take clear, concrete actions to protect free speech and the rights of all citizens.
Please respond with how you plan to act on these concerns and what specific steps you will take to ensure government agencies are not used to silence political opposition.
