Request removal of Section 70302, titled Restriction on Enforcement in the OBBB

To: Rep. Lee, Sen. Cortez Masto, Sen. Rosen

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

June 13

The OBBB is a budgetary bill and should only include budgetary matters. If applicable, invoke the Byrd Rule. Whether or not the OBBB passes, Section 70302, titled “Restriction on Enforcement,” needs to be removed. It is my understanding from what I've read in the news and in an article published on May 27, 2025, by Snopes, the provision would make it more difficult for courts to do their job as it pertains to the courts having the ability to charge government officials with contempt for defying court orders. I also read a similar take on this matter in the article by the Brennan Center for Justice, "House Budget Bill Would Gut Federal Courts’ Ability to Enforce Orders", published June 5, 2025. Request to have the SEC. 70302. RESTRICTION ON ENFORCEMENT removed from the OBBB. Vote NO on the Republican reconciliation bill while it includes harmful provisions. Thank you.
