Reject discriminatory AZ HB2062, uphold transgender Arizonans' dignity

To: Gov. Hobbs, Rep. Mathis, Sen. Sundareshan, Rep. Gutierrez

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

March 1

Gender Erasure Legislation Promotes Discrimination and Strips Identity AZ HB2062, the "Sex-based Terms Act," aims to codify the use of sex-based terms rather than gender identity across Arizona laws, rules, and regulations. This bill would mandate that documentation and identification only recognize the sex assigned at birth, effectively erasing transgender and non-binary identities. It would bar the issuance of IDs with an "X" gender marker and require gender transition surgery as the sole criteria for updating documentation. Such legislation perpetuates discrimination and strips away the dignity of transgender Arizonans by denying their fundamental right to self-identify. I implore you to reject this cruel bill that promotes intolerance under the guise of consistency. Please stand for equality and vote no on AZ HB2062.
