Please act to prevent military force from being used against Americans

I am writing as a constituent deeply alarmed by credible reports that senior White House officials are discussing the deployment of U.S. combat troops against American citizens. Heather Cox Richardson recently reported on communications between Stephen Miller’s deputy, Anthony Salisbury, and a senior advisor to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth about sending the 82nd Airborne Division into Portland, Oregon.
The 82nd Airborne is a force trained for war zones abroad—not for suppressing peaceful protesters in American cities. This plan, reportedly discussed without proper authorization, would violate the spirit of the Posse Comitatus Act and set a terrifying precedent for domestic militarization.
I urge you to take swift, public action to:
— Support legislation explicitly banning federal funds for unauthorized military operations within U.S. borders.
— Investigate the conduct of Stephen Miller and Pete Hegseth and demand their resignations if they have abused their authority.
— Publicly reaffirm that the U.S. military must never be used to intimidate or harm the American people.
We are living through an unprecedented moral and constitutional crisis. Your voice can help ensure this country remains one of laws, not men. Please act decisively to protect our democracy.
