Veto! Protect the Autonomy of Libraries and Reject Book Bans

To: Gov. DeWine

From: A verified voter in Cleveland, OH

June 27

Veto the book ban. Books, reading, education and libraries are not the enemy of morals, ethics, or democracy. Banning books and using legislation via the Ohio budget to serve as a barrier to access content relevant to individuals seeking resources is censorship. Focusing on libraries as a gateway to liberalism is a distraction from tackling more nuanced problems our state is facing such has funding public education, feeding food insecure children, providing safety in our communities and infrastructure. Banning books is censorship. I urge you to pull hard on the reigns of this culture war mob galloping toward a 1930’s Germany and guide them back to serving the citizens of Ohio by focusing real issues.
