are we at rock bottom yet? Pete Hegseth launches a retaliatory investigation into Sen. Mark Kelly and threatens a COURT MARITAL over “serious allegations of misconduct” — all because he made a video telling our generals to disobey *illegal* orders!
In a promo video released on Twitter, Hegeseth announced the probe and said that
“the video made by the ‘Seditious Six’ was despicable, reckless, and false. Encouraging our warriors to ignore the orders of their Commanders undermines every aspect of ’good order and discipline.”
“Five of the six individuals in that video do not fall under @DeptofWar jurisdiction,” Hegseth wrote.” However, Mark Kelly (retired Navy Commander) is still subject to UCMJ — and he knows that.” UCMJ is the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
In its own post on Twitter, the Pentagon wrote that a “thorough review of these allegations has been initiated to determine further actions, which may include recall to active duty for court-martial proceedings or administrative measures.”
The right-wing has been having a week-long freakout over this video. Donald Trump has been posting furiously about the six Democrats who filmed the video urging our military leadership to disobey illegal orders, calling them “traitors” and saying they were doing “seditious behavior at the highest level.” Last Thursday, Trump wrote “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand — We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”
Just this morning, he posted an AI video of the Democrats in jail.
Now his goons in the Pentagon are trying to use the military’s disciplinary system to punish Sen. Kelly for doing the right thing. Trump can’t bear to see any kind of challenge to his authority, which he seems to believe is absolute and unconstrained by the law.
You all need to remind him that he is not all-powerful, and he will be held accountable for any illegal orders he attempts to give.
