The forcible removal and manhandling of Senator Alex Padilla from Secretary Kristi Noem's press conference was an egregious violation of democratic norms and the freedom of the press. This authoritarian overreach against a sitting U.S. senator raises grave concerns about the erosion of civil liberties under the current administration. Secretary Noem's agents acted like an occupying force, resorting to intimidation tactics against a peaceful elected official simply trying to ask questions. Such outrageous conduct is unacceptable in a free society. For the sake of preserving our democratic institutions, Secretary Noem must take responsibility for this appalling incident by resigning immediately. Her disturbing actions have undermined public trust and rendered her unfit to continue serving in such a powerful position overseeing domestic security. Accountability is paramount to restoring faith in our government's adherence to the rule of law and constitutional principles.
