"Deportation" of US citizens is unconstitutional!

To: Rep. Salinas

From: A constituent in Salem, OR

May 2

I'm shocked that every Republican on the House Judiciary Committee voted to advance a bill that would make it illegal to "deport" US citizens. The Constitution is clear on this point: it expressly prohibits "deportation" of citizens. And let's be clear: forcibly sending a natural-born citizen to another country is not "deportation." It is kidnapping and human trafficking. I'm appalled that anyone, Republican or Democrat, would think this unconstitutional bill is a good idea. One has to wonder: Who will they target? Naturalized citizens? US-born citizens? People of color? LGBTQ+ Americans? Dissenters of any kind? I know you much oppose such a bill. Please go further, and oppose this unconstitutional bill to even be granted a vote.
