Reject SB 382
To: Rep. Edwards

November 27
Dear Senator,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to Senate Bill 382. I find it deeply troubling and disgusting that you, and members of your party, continue to treat Western North Carolina as nothing more than a political pawn. This is not the first time Republicans have attempted to exploit our region for political gain, and sadly, it appears this bill is another attempt to do so.
You may recall the unfounded conspiracies regarding FEMA that your party pushed in the past, using fear and misinformation to divide us. Now, with this bill, you are once again pretending to offer help while instead undermining the democratic process and retaliating against those who disagree with you. What SB 382 really seeks to do is strip away essential checks and balances, consolidating power in ways that are deeply harmful to the people of this state. The goal is not to benefit North Carolina—it is to serve narrow political interests at the expense of democracy and fairness.
It is shameful that Republicans, including you, have repeatedly chosen to abandon the people of Western North Carolina. Instead of focusing on real issues that affect us—issues like healthcare, infrastructure, and education—your party continues to push divisive and harmful legislation. SB 382 is just another example of that pattern.
Shame on you and your party for turning your back on the people you were elected to serve. I strongly urge you to put an end to this and refuse to support this bill and to stop using our region as a political pawn.
