The proposed Senate bill 382 undermines democratic principles by stripping power away from duly elected state officials. Allowing political parties to directly appoint judges erodes judicial independence and impartiality. Limiting the attorney general's ability to advocate on behalf of citizens, particularly regarding utility rates that impact households across our state, is a disservice to the public interest. These measures consolidate partisan control at the expense of fair representation and accountability to voters. I urge you to reject this legislation and uphold our constitutional system of checks and balances between separate branches of government.
