Reject Dangerous Bill Limiting Transgender Youth Healthcare

To: Sen. Sinema, Sen. Kelly

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

July 20

S. 457 - Protecting Transgender Youth and Upholding Medical Ethics This bill aims to ban evidence-based, medically-necessary gender-affirming care for transgender youth under 18, including puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries. It would make pediatric clinics and healthcare providers liable for up to 30 years for providing this critical care endorsed by major medical associations as appropriate treatment that can reduce risks of depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidality. The bill prohibits public funds from supporting organizations offering trans healthcare to minors, overriding medical ethics by inserting government between doctors and families making deeply personal healthcare decisions. Protecting transgender people's right to appropriate care is vital.
