It’s very clear that Trump and Noem are desperate to get any warm body capable of swinging a baton signed up for their personal paramilitary goon squad, and Slate journalist Laura Jedeed found out just how easy it is to get an ICE uniform and a gun. “There’s only one ‘Laura Jedeed’ with an internet presence, and it takes about five seconds of Googling to figure out how I feel about ICE, the Trump administration, and the country’s general right-wing project. Keep going for long enough and you might even find my dossier on AntifaWatch, a right-wing website that lists alleged members of the supposed domestic terror organization. I am, to put it mildly, a less-than-ideal recruit,” wrote an astonished Jedeed. Jedeed missed the email asking her to fill out paperwork, but then later received another one asking for a drug test — and she’d used cannabis in the past week. But she took the drug test anyway, and was shocked at what happened next: “Nine days later, impatience got the best of me. For the first time, I logged into USAJobs and checked my application to see if my drug test had come through. What I actually saw was so implausible, so impossible, that at first I did not understand what I was looking at. “Somehow, despite never submitting any of the paperwork they sent me—not the background check or identification info, not the domestic violence affidavit, none of it—ICE had apparently offered me a job. “I moused over the exclamation mark next to ‘Onboarding’ and a helpful pop-up appeared. ‘Your EOD has occurred. Welcome to ICE!’” “By all appearances, I was a deportation officer. Without a single signature on agency paperwork, ICE had officially hired me.” Jedeed’s article goes into great detail about how sparse the ICE recruitment event she’d attended had been, and now it’s easy to see why the violence against everyday Americans is increasing. ICE is giving a badge and a gun to every whacked-out racist jabroni with an inferiority complex and an axe to grind against everyone who isn’t a MAGA conservative with no background checks, no drugs tests, no NOTHING. These men could be rapists, killers, Klansmen, domestic terrorists, and ICE is just putting them on the streets anyway. It turns out “Gestapo” is not exactly a job that most normal, well-affected people are eager to sign up for — so Trump and Kristi Noem are using our taxpayer dollars to pay the worst of the worst to terrorize our communities and brutalize us.
