An Open Letter

To: Rep. Plummer, Gov. DeWine, Sen. Huffman

From: A constituent in Vandalia, OH

May 16

Regarding cellphones in the classroom - I understand the educational issues but there are other factors that need consideration. One example is a diabetic student with a CGM - The cellphone is needed to track blood sugar levels. Another is safety. Last year, cellphone video led to a North Texas substitute teacher being fired after she "encouraged students to fight each other during class," according to a statement from the Mesquite Independent School District.
