Freedom of Expression Through Forced Conformity

To: Justices Court

From: A constituent in North Little Rock, AR

March 31

First, a sincere thank you, Justice Jackson, for your dissent. Playing with fire, indeed--and we the people, especially those of us who are queer, stand very likely to get burned. To the rest of the court, how dare you. How dare you legalize a so-called "therapy" that has been proven to be unnecessarily cruel and violent. Queer people who have been subjected to conversion are far more likely to commit suicide than queer people who are supported for who we are. Queer folks deserve our own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Freedom of expression should not cover one party violently removing another's freedom. I am shocked more than anything that this case carried 8-1. I expect that the Supreme Court of the United States will protect the constitution, and by way, protect the people, but we can clearly see that--as the founders knew--the constitution only covers some Americans, not all. A less sincere thank you for reinforcing the status of second-class citizens by proving only those who conform to the Christofascist ideals of conformity deserve their freedoms.
