I am writing as a constituent to urge you to co-sponsor and support the bipartisan Cannabis Users' Restoration of Eligibility (CURE) Act, introduced by Representatives Jamie Raskin and Zach Nunn. ​This commonsense legislation ensures that past marijuana use alone cannot be used to deny individuals suitability for federal employment or eligibility for a security clearance. It also establishes a review process for agencies to re-evaluate past clearance and employment denials based solely on past cannabis use. ​Outdated suitability policies create unnecessary administrative barriers that prevent federal agencies and contractors from recruiting and retaining top-tier talent. Updating these standards helps keep the federal government competitive while keeping security evaluations focused on real risk factors. ​I strongly encourage you to join your colleagues in co-sponsoring and supporting the CURE Act.
