I would like to request that you insist on more funding to community colleges next year. Community colleges play a vital role in providing affordable and accessible higher education opportunities. However, many of these institutions face significant financial constraints that hinder their ability to adequately serve students and communities. Increased funding for community colleges would have far-reaching benefits, including: Expanded course offerings and degree programs to meet diverse student needs and emerging workforce demands. This prepares more students for well-paying careers. Modernized facilities and technology, ensuring students have access to up-to-date resources and equipment for effective learning. Hiring more faculty and staff to reduce student-to-instructor ratios and provide robust student support services like tutoring, counseling, and career advising. Enhancing workforce development initiatives and partnerships with local businesses to align programs with in-demand skills. Improving access and affordability through increased financial aid, grants, and scholarships, particularly for underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students. Community colleges are economic drivers, fostering an educated workforce and promoting social mobility. Investing in these institutions generates substantial returns through higher earning potential, economic growth, and community development. Consistent public funding is crucial to ensure community colleges can fulfill their mission of providing high-quality, equitable educational pathways. As someone who had attended as a career change and got a job right away, these training programs serve in-need areas of the workforce. There is a program under NJ unemployment that will aid in tuition on these programs in healthcare, culinary arts, mechanics and other technical jobs. Community colleges are vital to keep the community thriving through education. It gives everyone chances at life improvement at their own pace. Please add more budget to the community colleges next year. The 4 year colleges have many more people privileged enough to pay tuition or study full time.
