Stop Harassment of Federal Employees

To: Rep. Conaway

From: A constituent in Marlton, NJ

February 23, 2025

I am reaching out to you because today at 4:46 - on a Saturday - my husband received an email saying he needed to reply to an email with information on the work that he did this week - and a lack of response would be considered a resignation. First of all, what if someone is on vacation?? How can they do this? This is not how the government should work. This is a hostile work environment and harassment. A friend of mine shared this: there are 2,252,162 federal employees making on average $93,828 each year. That salary works out to $45.10 per hour. Assuming everyone answers this BS email and spends 5 minutes doing so, this email will cost taxpayers $8,466,180. More needs to be said about the fact that people‘s perceptions of government workers are incorrect. Also people should be concerned that less than 7% of the government workforce is under the age of 30. Who is going to be the future. A video recently came across my phone of the Illinois governor JB Pritzker detailing how the Nazis came to power in less than two months. We are one month in. This needs to be stopped. What can we do? How can I help? I am scared to publicly say anything for fear of retaliation or being attacked because my husband is a government employee and I want to protect his job. I appreciate the work that you are doing, but please tell your constituents across this entire state, Democrats and Republicans that this is not how government functions and that we need to rise up.
