I was at your office in Raleigh yesterday with a group of clergy and constituents from a group the poor people‘s campaign. We were disappointed to be locked out once again. Here are some comments from your constituents:
They dare to call CRUELTY “beautiful”
Beautiful for who??
Awaken from complacency
Awaken to this moral catastrophe
Am I my brothers keeper? This bill answers with a callous NO
The Bible is clear, we are to care for the poor, the widows, the stranger
Rabbi Joshua Heschel said, “Indifference to evil is worse than evil itself”
We all have basic rights…food, shelter, healthcare, and dignity
This bill threatens 17 million people’s health care coverage because of Medicaid cuts and expiring ACA subsidies
Rural hospitals threatened
Taking food from the hungry to pay for tax cuts for wealthiest Americans
God hates injustice…What harms the least of these hurts all of us
We all deserve clean air, health care, good schools, dignity of work
…the top 1% of Americans will receive tens of thousands of dollars in tax benefits while we are positioning ourselves for a budget crisis and a permanent shortfall.
Senator, there were so many wonderful people that I met that you are privileged to serve. Hear their voices. Hear their pleas. These are real people who will be harmed by legislation that you voted for. I urge you to help your constituents. Real lives are on the line.
