On June 7th “Meet the Press,” Trump said: “The [2020] election was rigged. It was a dirty election … And it’s happening again right now in California…. they’re cheating on the election. … they’re crooked…. You know that these elections are rigged. … Your elections in this country … are like a third world country. Your elections are crooked.” These are not only delusional sounding statements, they are also a central part of the Trump playbook for undermining faith in elections. We saw this all the way back in his apprentice days when they didn’t win the Emmys, they just said it was rigged. Back then we could laugh it off… Now it’s a deadly game as we saw on January 6, 2021. Chaos. Violence. Cops beaten with flag poles and other sharp objects Brian Sicknick died the next day. Others took their own lives. I am thankful for your leadership and to have a governor and Attorney General that we can trust. Trump is desperate to hold power. As the midterms approach, HOW ARE YOU PREPARING for any/all bad faith scenarios surrounding elections? Not made up voter fraud which there is no proof of, but how are you preparing for the lies and the violence that Trump could once again bring on? How are you going to protect our right to vote; to safeguard that which is fundamental in a democracy? I am very fearful for what is to come in our state and in our nation. Thank you for preparing for what is to come.
