Do Not Allow Drone Strikes Within Mexican Borders

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis, Rep. Rouzer

From: A constituent in Wilmington, NC

April 8

I am writing to express my deep concern and firm opposition to any proposal or plan that would authorize U.S. drone strikes within the sovereign territory of Mexico. Such action would be an egregious violation of international law, a betrayal of our diplomatic responsibilities, and an act of war against a sovereign ally. Not only would this destabilize an already delicate regional relationship, but it would also risk the lives of countless innocent civilians and further entrench the cycles of violence we claim to be combating. There is no justification—legal, moral, or strategic—for conducting military strikes in another nation without its explicit consent. To do so would set a dangerous precedent and severely damage our credibility on the world stage. If our government truly seeks to address cross-border challenges like drug trafficking and organized crime, it must do so through cooperation, not confrontation. I urge you, in the strongest terms, to oppose any legislation, authorization, or executive action that would permit drone strikes or military operations inside Mexican territory. This is not who we are as a nation. This is not how peace is built.
