Reject trans ID discrimination, uplift self-determination rights

To: Gov. Hobbs

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

Title: Opposing Arizona's HB2438 on Gender Markers Trans erasure bills like Arizona's HB2438 that restrict gender marker changes on identification documents pose serious threats to the wellbeing and safety of transgender and non-binary individuals. These measures force transgender people to carry documentation that does not align with their lived identity, exposing them to potential discrimination, harassment, and even violence. Furthermore, surgery requirements for updating IDs create undue financial and medical barriers. As a society, we should uplift and affirm the identities of our transgender community members rather than codifying exclusion into law. I urge you to reject HB2438 and any legislation that compromises the dignity and rights of this vulnerable population. An compassionate, inclusive approach that respects self-determination is paramount.
