I am writing as a concerned constituent, asking you to continue to do everything you can to push for Virginia's ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment to be recognized NOW, before President Biden leaves office. I understand the role of Congress is limited, and am simply asking you to continue to use your political influence to pressure the White House to publish the 28th Amendment immediately. See the FAQ at voteequality.us for an overview of the legal answers to potential concerns. I personally don't care about legalities anymore. I care that a Democratic president apparently cares so little about the women and lgbtq people (and men too) who need the protections of the ERA that he won't even do his job of ensuring the laws are executed to protect our freedoms. It also shows clear contempt for the will of the States that the Executive branch is being allowed to unilaterally block publication of a fully ratified Amendment. There is no excuse for a President who has used executive orders and otherwise stretched his powers as needed throughout his presidency, to suddenly be unwilling to exert his powers on behalf of the Equal Rights Amendment. Further, if his presidency ends without action on this, I and many other Democratic women will consider it a deep betrayal by the Party. You would never consider a President who gave excuses to not sign the Civil Rights Act a supporter of the rights of Black people. In the same way, a President who gives excuses to not publish the Equal Rights Amendment cannot be a supporter of women's rights. And the entire party will be complicit if they do not do everything to force his hand. Please, we only have a very short time left. Do everything you can to get the Equal Rights Amendment published.
