Stop MO Scholars — Defund and Repeal
To: Gov. Kehoe
From: A verified voter in Springfield, MO
December 13
I am writing as a Missouri taxpayer to oppose the MO Scholars program’s use of public tax dollars.
Using general revenue to fund private and religious school tuition is unconstitutional in spirit and likely in law. It diverts money from Missouri’s public schools, lacks meaningful public oversight, and exposes taxpayers to waste and potential corruption.
Knowingly spending public funds on a program already under constitutional challenge is either grossly irresponsible or a deliberate attempt to lock in an unconstitutional scheme before the courts can stop it.
Missouri’s public schools should be your priority, not a voucher program that undermines them while bypassing constitutional safeguards.
I am calling on you to stop disbursements, support full repeal of MO Scholars’ public funding authority, and work with the legislature to permanently end this program. Continuing to defend it signals disregard for both the Constitution and Missouri taxpayers.
I expect leadership that protects public education and respects the limits of state power.
