I am writing to express my concern about the U.S. involvement in deporting individuals to the CECOT prison in El Salvador. This prison has been widely criticized for its inhumane conditions, including overcrowding, inadequate hygiene and medical care, and reports of torture. The detainees, many of whom have not been charged with crimes, face cruel treatment and are being held in a judicial black hole.
As reported, CECOT has become a symbol of authoritarian tactics, where basic human needs are denied and abuse is rampant. The U.S. is complicit in these actions by sending individuals to this facility.
I urge you to block any funding supporting these practices and denounce U.S. involvement with CECOT. Congress has the power to take a stand against these human rights violations and protect those at risk.
