Stop the SAVE act

To: Sen. Booker, Sen. Kim, Rep. Kean

From: A verified voter in Budd Lake, NJ

February 15

We must stop the SAVE act. It’s not about undocumented votes. The undocumented already can’t vote. It’s about buying elections- pay-to-play politics. Many people live paycheck to paycheck. Getting a Saturday appointment at a DMV/MVC is damned near impossible, and weekday hours generally run 9-4. Municipal records departments open after most folks are already at work and usually close by 4pm. Social security is weekdays only. And all of these documents cost money. Want a passport? It could run up to $400 per person. When you can’t take days off or afford the fees, it is a very big deal. And that’s the point- the poor, the PoC, and the women- can’t necessarily do it. So they’ll be the ones excluded, as intended. Stop this insanity. Stop the SAVE act.
