I am writing to express my outrage about the politicization of the Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel. Instead of protecting the American people and upholding the law, the DOJ has been weaponized to attack Trump's political enemies and shield his allies from accountability. The evidence is overwhelming. The DOJ opened a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as part of a campaign to influence interest rate decisions, threatening the independence of our central bank. They dropped charges against former NYC mayor Eric Adams and Trump's co-defendants in the classified documents case. They fired the director of the Department of Ethics Office, at least three January 6 prosecutors, and 20 DOJ prosecutors who assisted Special Counsel Jack Smith. The department has launched criminal investigations into perceived political rivals including former CIA director John Brennan and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The FBI raided the home of John Bolton, Trump's former national security advisor who became a critic. They opened an investigation into Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook while closing a bribery investigation into border czar Tom Homan, who allegedly accepted cash from undercover FBI agents. Most egregiously, they forced out top career prosecutor Erik Siebert and attempted to replace him with Trump's personal attorney Lindsey Halligan, who then indicted former FBI director James Comey. A federal judge dismissed the indictment, ruling Halligan's appointment invalid. When a whistleblower reported officials encouraging DOJ lawyers to defy court orders, they were fired and discredited. This is not justice. This is political revenge that undermines the rule of law and threatens our democracy. I urge you to condemn the DOJ's political attack on Jerome Powell and refuse to confirm any new Federal Reserve appointees. Conduct public oversight hearings into these politically motivated actions. Call for the resignations of Pam Bondi and Kash Patel. Support articles of impeachment and vote to convict and remove Trump for his repeated defiance of the law.
