An Open Letter
To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd
From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC
December 23
For the sake of our country and the constituents you're supposed to be representing, for the sake of the oaths you took to the Constitution, for the sake of keeping the foundations that make America the great country that it has been and should still be, it's time to do the right thing and remove Trump and his entire administration. The Trump administrations' multiple violations of laws, ignoring court orders, blatant corruption and money making schemes, and ignoring what the Constitutions requires aren't signs of proper, good, or strong leadership. Trump's placing of unqualified loyalists in positions where they are clearly in over their heads does nothing but hurt our country. Trump and his "yes men" (i.e. the Republican party which includes you both) are out for one thing: To hurt the people living in our country in whatever ways you can. Americans are weary of Trump. We're tired of the lies and gaslighting, the blaming of past presidents for Trump's mistakes, the blatant hypocrisy when it comes to Trump's health and his part in the Epstein files. We're weary of worrying about healthcare (Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA) that was once established and a given. We're worried about the increasing prices of food, electricity, and homes - all issues Trump "promised" to fix. We're worried about the good economy Trump inherited (you know it was good) and how he literally destroyed that economy. We're weary of the bullying, racism, and sexism and the pitting of people against each other for no reason other than to sow unnecessary division, anger, fear and hate. The American people don't want a dictatorship. We aren't a Christian nation and we don't want to be a White Christian Nationalist country. Before the election, only 4% of voters supported Project 2025. Trump LIED about his part in Project 2025, yet it is playing out under his direction, because he knew about it. Read the room Senators. Voters, regardless of political affiliation, don't approve of Trump. Trump and his sycophants will be held accountable for the murders of innocent people in boats, for war crimes, for the disappearing of citizens and others here legally who aren't criminals to death camps (CECOT), for the starvation of citizens who can't afford food due to the loss of SNAP, and who die because they no longer have access to healthcare or vaccines or medications, or who are women and are denied proper healthcare. Trump is not presidential. TRUMP IS WEAK. He is vile, evil, and a danger. He is mentally unhinged and physically unwell. And here's the kicker: Trump is scared, hence his constant yelling and deflections. Voters will be around for longer than Trump will, and we will remember your part in his administration. We will remember that you refused to do your jobs. You ignored the oath you took to the Constitution. You ignored checks and balances. You don't hold Trump to the requirements needed for the office of the highest position in the world. You ignored the guardrails that were already in place to rein Trump in. But what gets me most is by supporting Trump, you're hurting the very people you love - your families, your friends. How do you reconcile your actions? Why do you keep supporting a president who lives in his own made-up fantasy land and who only cares about himself? Why?
