Stand up for *all* veterans.
To: Rep. McGuire
From: A constituent in Charlottesville, VA
August 10
Earlier this week, Reuters reported that transgender members of the U.S. Air Force with between 15-18 years of service will be denied early retirement as they are forced out of the service.
They’re given two options: Quit, or be fired. No retirement benefits.
I’m sure, as a veteran yourself, you can imagine spending 15 years understanding that you could die to defend your country. Accepting that. Putting the entire rest of your life on hold. Leaving family and friends to serve honorably.
And after all that, this is how you’re treated. Kicked to the curb like trash.
And here’s another truth: When you’re in uniform, you don’t care who the person next to you worships, who their parents were, who they love, any of that. You care about whether they can do the job, and whether you can trust them when sh*t hits the fan.
I’ve heard you express this same sentiment on the House floor. So, do you stand by your words? Will you stand up for *all* veterans? Or only the ones whose private lives you approve of?
