Safeguarding non-profits, protecting communities - reconsider overreaching crackdown
To: Rep. Moore
From: A constituent in Ogden, UT
November 23
I am strongly opposed to this legislation that threatens the tax-exempt status of civil organizations including churches, schools, museums, library support organizations, and other 501 organizations that exist to serve the public good, not just those financing terrorism. Revoking tax exemptions could catastrophically undermine crucial support systems like food banks, shelters, charitable groups that assist vulnerable communities, as well as churches, schools, museums, libraries and more. The egregious potential for overreach and devastating unintended consequences impacting a wide range of non-profit organizations demands we completely reject such an expansive and destructive crackdown. Non-profits are the essential lifeblood of our social safety net and communities, and recklessly jeopardizing their ability to operate freely puts all of us gravely at risk.
