Are You Unable - or Unwilling - to Act?

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Ivey, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A verified voter in College Park, MD

April 7

I am writing as a constituent who is deeply concerned about recent rhetoric and actions coming from the executive branch, particularly statements by Donald J. Trump that appear to openly discuss large-scale destruction and escalation involving another nation. This is not normal political disagreement. This is the kind of language that raises serious questions about the use of U.S. power, adherence to international law, and the safety of civilians. So I am asking you directly: > *Are you unable to act, or unwilling?* Because from the outside, Congress appears absent. When rhetoric escalates to the point of suggesting attacks on civilian infrastructure or regime-level destruction, the legislative branch should not be silent. Oversight is not optional. It is your constitutional responsibility. If there are legal or procedural constraints preventing immediate action, explain them clearly to your constituents. If there are not, then why are we not seeing visible, decisive steps to assert congressional authority? At a minimum, I expect: - Public clarification of your position on this rhetoric and any related policy - Clear communication about what oversight actions are being taken - A commitment to preventing unlawful or reckless escalation This is not about party affiliation. It is about whether the system of checks and balances is functioning at all. If Congress does not act in moments like this, then what exactly is it for? I am asking for a direct response.
