Support for ICE and Border Patrol Funding in Homeland Security Appropriations

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A verified voter in Tallahassee, FL

March 28

I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent to urge you to take a firm stand on the upcoming Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill. I am requesting that you oppose any funding measure that does not include full, robust funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Border Patrol. The results of the 2024 election sent a clear and unambiguous message: the American people have granted a mandate to President Trump and the Republican party to restore the rule of law and gain full control of our nation’s borders. This was not a secondary issue; for many of us, it was the primary reason for our vote. We expect our representatives to honor that mandate by ensuring our law enforcement agencies have every resource necessary to secure the border and deport those who are here illegally. The consequences of unchecked immigration are being felt acutely by American citizens across the country. Hard working Americans are suffering. Wages are being suppressed by an influx of low skilled labor, while the American taxpayer is forced to foot the bill for social services, housing, and legal processing for non citizens. Additionally, the lack of vetting and enforcement has led to valid concerns regarding crime and the safety of our communities. Finally our essential systems are at a breaking point. Every time I go to the hospital emergency room I have to wait for hours for emergency care. The ER is flooding with non english speaking people; Obviously from south and Central America, often still dressed attire for manual labor jobs. Our roads are increasingly congested. Our educational systems are overburdened by the rapid influx of students requiring specialized resources, often at the expense of American children. Furthermore, it is vital to acknowledge the right of Heritage Americans to preserve their culture, customs, language, and religious traditions. A nation is more than just a plot of land or an economic zone. It is a community bound by shared values and history. Rapid, uncontrolled demographic shifts threaten the social cohesion, cultural continuity, and prosperity that have defined the United States for generations. I ask that you refuse to pass any "clean" funding bill or continuing resolution that neglects the enforcement side of the DHS budget. Border security is national security. It is your duty to prioritize the interests, safety, and cultural heritage of your constituents over all else. I look forward to seeing you stand strong on this issue.
