Keep DOGE from compiling Americans' personal data
To: Rep. Salinas
From: A constituent in Wilsonville, OR
May 9
I’m alarmed by the Washington Post’s new reporting that Elon Musk and DOGE are creating a single database in which to gather ALL of Americans’ most sensitive and personal data. This is a disaster in the making and Congress needs to stop it NOW. Cyber security experts are horrified by this plan and so am I.
Maintaining an extra database is not cheap and won't cut costs - but it will make identity theft and discrimination easier, if those are DOGE's actual goals. And if they do not keep the information secure, it will make identity theft substantially easier for criminal actors who get their hands on it. (Assuming we do not consider DOGE to be criminal actors, which does seem to be an open question.)
Do your job. Make it stop. Keep DOGE out of my personal data. Thanks.
